Thank you for visiting Model Sailboats
Each of these beautiful model sailboats comes completely pre-made, including the completed hull with all of the detail work already in place on the deck. The sails and rigging also come pre-made. The only modest assembly that is required by you is to set up the mast(s), sails and rigging. Written instructions and a diagram illustrate the assembly process. Each of these model sailboats sits on a fine wooden stand included with the sailboat.
Due to the fact that these models are made by hand some of the deck pieces will vary
During the 1930's the Americas Cup races in Newport were dominated by enormous J-class boats. Sir Thomas Lipton (Lipton Tea) built Shamrock V in 1930 as one of the first J-class boats. Shamrock V was Thomas Liptons final challenge for the America's Cup. Built of semicomposite construction, Shamrock V had her stem, stern post and counter timbers of teak and her wooden keel of English Elm. Shamrock would never go on to win the cup, but she is hailed for her beautiful classic hull design. In 1988 Shamrock was purchased and restored by the Museum Of Yachting at Newport RI. She was restored to her original racing trim. In 1998 she was purchased by a private owner and can be viewed in Auckland New Zealand.
About the Ships
Old World Trading offers both a Captain's Line and an Admiral's Line of ships. The Captain's Line consists of replicas of original ships that are built from pictures and drawings. The Admiral's Line consists of scaled museum-quality models of the original ships. The Admiral's Line of ships are more detailed and built from blueprints similar to the actual ships.
The ships are 100% scratch built, put together piece by piece, similar to an actual ship. There are no model kits used here. The wood is cut from the trees.
All our ships are plank on frame construction (hollow hulls). The hull and deck are attached piece-by-piece to the ribs. If you look closely, you can see the nails used to secure the strips of wood to the internal ribs.
Some Admiral's ships utilize double plank on frame construction. Wood is cut piece by piece and put over the existing ship's hull to the water line. It's a lot of work and a fantastic look.
Appreciate the rigging, the stiching on the sails, and the fantastic craftsmanship.
The lines on the ship are working lines. They can be tightened and loosened.
The Admiral's Line ships sails can actually be furled or unfurled by tracing each working line, although this is not recommended unless you are an avid model builder.
Each ship comes with a solid wooden stand and a brass name plate.
The ships are imported from all over the world from master craftsmen who specialize in model boat building.
The boats are made from woods such as cherry, different types of teak, mahogany, oak, rosewood, ash, and other exotic woods. For example, The Cutty Sark is make from mahogany and teak, the Dutch Merchant is make from rosewood, and the Wendur and Valiant are made from blends of teak.

General Policy
We work hard to provide you with the best value in product prices and shipping charges, and to get your order to you in a timely, safe, and convenient manner. Internet sales involve the cost of getting the product to you, and shipping carriers base that cost on the size and weight of the package, plus the distance the package travels from our warehouse to your door. We keep our product prices low, negotiate low shipping charges from our carriers and pass those savings on to you, and we don't charge sales tax (except for residents of Utah), so your order from iboats.com is the best value for all your boating needs.
Our standard shipping method is UPS ground, which typically takes 2-5 additional transit days after the order has left our warehouse, depending on your delivery address. We also offer other shipping options, including expedited delivery, and the actual delivery date will depend on the shipping options you choose.
Shipping to Canada
Most products sold by iboats.com can be purchased and shipped to Canada. Some restrictions apply to certain items, such as hazardous materials, over-weight products, and the method of shipping. Currently, iboats.com offers ground shipping to all Canada provinces. Our Canadian brokerage service accelerates your orders through the Customs clearance process and facilitates the delivery of your order through Canada Post or the best method based on your shipping address. We do not currently offer expedited shipping methods to Canada.
At iboats.com we want to simplify your transaction and give you a pleasing purchasing experience so you'll come shop with us again and again. We therefore calculate all the duties, taxes, and other fees specific to Canadian orders and show you the total landed cost of getting the order to your door.
